Tapkin for iPhone, Apple Watch, and widgets

Email support@tapkin.net and a person will read it. Tapkin is made by a very small team, so replies aren't instant — but they're from someone who knows the app, not a queue.

A reminder didn't arrive

Almost always one of four things, in the order worth checking:

  1. Notifications are off. Settings › Tapkin › Notifications — Allow Notifications needs to be on. Tapkin shows a banner on its own Home screen when this is the problem.
  2. A Focus mode is filtering it. Focus silences apps by default. Add Tapkin to the allowed list for that Focus, or mark the individual reminder as time sensitive when you create it.
  3. Quiet hours are on inside Tapkin. Settings › Quiet hours in the app. During quiet hours reminders still arrive, but silently.
  4. The iPhone was off or restarting when it was due. Reminders are scheduled on the device, so a phone that's fully powered off can't ring.

I don't want reminder names showing on my lock screen

By default, a reminder's name appears in notifications and widgets, which means it can be read from a locked phone. That's deliberate — a reminder you can't read isn't much of a reminder — but it's one switch to change:

Tapkin › Settings › Reminder names › Hide names

With it off, notifications and the watch show the category instead ("Medication"), and widgets show the icon and time only. The name never leaves the app.

How many reminders are free?

Five active reminders, with no time limit and no account. A one-time purchase removes the cap — it isn't a subscription, and there's nothing to cancel. Reminders you've finished don't count against the five.

Where is my data?

On your iPhone, and — if you use iCloud — in your own iCloud account. There are no Tapkin servers, no analytics, and no ads. We can't see your reminders.

You can take everything with you or erase it at any time: Tapkin › Settings › Your data has both Export my reminders and Delete all reminders.

My Apple Watch isn't showing reminders

The watch mirrors what the iPhone sends it, so it needs the phone nearby and the Tapkin app installed on the watch. Opening Tapkin on the iPhone once will push a fresh copy across.

Something else, or something's broken

Write to support@tapkin.net. It helps to say what you expected, what happened instead, and your iPhone model — but don't worry about getting the report right. A sentence is fine.
