Tapkin Terms of Use
Before the detail, the two things that matter most:
Tapkin is a reminder app, not a medical device. It does not know what medication you take and cannot check whether anything is right — see section 3.
Reminders are delivered by iOS, not by us, and delivery is not guaranteed — see section 5.
This box is a signpost, not a summary: the numbered sections below are the actual terms, and they govern.
1. Agreement
By downloading or using Tapkin you agree to these Terms and to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also governs your use of any App Store app. If you do not agree, do not use Tapkin. If you are a minor, use Tapkin only with a parent or guardian's permission.
2. What Tapkin is
Tapkin is a reminder app: you tell it what to remind you about and when, and it schedules notifications on your device. That is all it does.
3. What Tapkin is not — please read
TAPKIN IS NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE AND DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL ADVICE, DIAGNOSIS, OR TREATMENT. Reminders you create about medications are organizational conveniences, like a note on your refrigerator. Tapkin does not know what medication you take, does not verify doses, schedules, or drug interactions, and cannot tell you whether any of them are right. Always follow your pharmacist's label and your doctor's instructions, and direct all medication questions to them.
DO NOT RELY ON TAPKIN IN ANY SITUATION WHERE A MISSED, DELAYED, OR INCORRECT REMINDER COULD CAUSE HARM TO HEALTH, SAFETY, OR PROPERTY. For medication schedules where a missed dose has serious consequences, use the alarm and health tools your doctor or pharmacist recommends, not (or not only) Tapkin.
4. Label scanning transcribes — it can be wrong, and you confirm it
The scan feature reads printed text (a pharmacy label, appointment card, bill, or note) with on-device text recognition so you don't have to type it. Text recognition can misread. Tapkin only transcribes what is printed — it never fills in what isn't, and you choose the reminder times yourself — and it asks you to confirm each scanned detail against the original before any reminder is created. You are responsible for that confirmation. A reminder created from a scan is your entry, exactly as if you had typed it.
5. Notifications are not guaranteed
Reminders are delivered by iOS as local notifications, and delivery is ultimately controlled by your device and by Apple's operating system — not by us. Notifications may be silenced, delayed, or not delivered at all: if notification permission is off, in Focus and Do Not Disturb modes, under your quiet-hours or notification settings, when the device is off or out of battery, after iOS's own limits on pending notifications, or when iOS declines to run the app in the background. Tapkin works to reschedule reliably within these limits, but WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT ANY REMINDER, ALERT, OR NOTIFICATION WILL BE DELIVERED, BE ON TIME, OR BE RECEIVED. See section 3: do not rely on Tapkin where a missed reminder could cause harm.
6. Your data is yours
Tapkin stores your data on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account; we have no servers and no access to it. Details are in the Tapkin Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms. You can export or delete your data at any time in Settings.
7. Purchase
Tapkin's optional unlock ("Tapkin Unlimited") is a one-time purchase processed by Apple — no subscription, no recurring charges. The price is shown before you buy; prices vary by country. Purchases, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms; refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Use "Restore purchase" on the unlock screen to recover a previous purchase on a new device.
8. License and acceptable use
We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use Tapkin on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. Don't copy, sell, or redistribute the app; don't reverse-engineer it except where the law allows this despite these Terms; don't use it unlawfully.
9. Warranty disclaimer
TAPKIN IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR PERSONAL INJURY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE TAPKIN — INCLUDING ANY REMINDER THAT WAS NOT DELIVERED, WAS DELIVERED LATE, OR CONTAINED INCORRECT INFORMATION; AND (b) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO TAPKIN IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR TAPKIN IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows.
11. Your statutory rights
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the consumer-protection laws of your country of residence (including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) that cannot be waived or limited by agreement.
12. Apple
Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no responsibility for Tapkin or its content, but Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Maintenance and support, and any product claims relating to Tapkin, are our responsibility, not Apple's.
13. Termination
These Terms apply for as long as you use Tapkin. We may terminate the license if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 3, 5, 9, 10, and 11 survive termination.
14. Changes
If these Terms change, the new version will appear at this address with an updated date; material changes will be noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Tapkin after a change takes effect means you accept it.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to section 11.
